The tragic news of Chadwick Boseman passing away after a 4 year battle with pancreatic cancer hit the world hard back in August. It was a blow to everyone, especially those in the black community, who lost a powerful and prominent role model, especially for young children. Something that everyone hoped that Marvel Studios and the powers that be, would take exceptionally seriously when it came to future films and projects.
Marvel hasn’t said a lot regarding their Black Panther franchise outside of the fact that they have no plans to recreate Boseman with CGI as they have with past actors and actresses. However, The Hollywood Reporter is now saying that production Black Panther 2 will start filming in July 2021 with returning cast members Letitia Wright, Lupita Nyong’o, Winston Duke, and Angela Bassett and returning director Ryan Coogler.
Here is hope that they take the franchise down the same path as the comic book storylines and have Letitia Wright’s Shuri taking the Mantle. It’s the best course of action and can be a story that is written in a way that pays homage to not only Boseman’s T’Challa, but of Chadwick Boseman the man as well.
