The New York Liberty has unveiled a new team logo. This is the first time the Liberty’s logo has been changed since 1997, when they started playing in the WNBA.
In the news release announcing the new logo, it was said that the new ownership group of Joe and Clara Tsai and the team having a new home at Barclays Center in Brooklyn lead to the logo change.

The logo redesign still features a shield and torch like the original, but now features the prominence of black and white, mirroring the Nets, who call Barclays Center home and owned by Joe Tsai. In the news release, they said that the black and white color scheme solidified the “familial bond” between the Liberty and Nets. The new logo also uses Seafoam in it’s color scheme, which is a callback and symbolizing the Statue of Liberty, which was also featured in their original logo.
What do you think of this logo update? Have to say, I don’t follow the WNBA, but this redesign rocks, and I love the reasons behind it!.
