Star Trek: Strang New Worlds staring Anson Mount, Rebecca Romijn, and Ethan Peck is being added to the Star Trek universe!
The new series will follow Captain Christopher Pike, Number One, and Officer Spock during the time of Pike’s helming of the U.S.S. Enterprise prior to Kirk and the rest of the familiar crew boarding the ship.
CBS All Access has ordered a full series of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, based on the years where Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount) helms the U.S.S. Enterprise.
The series will feature Star Trek: Discovery Season 2 fan favorites Anson Mount as Captain Christopher Pike, Rebecca Romijn as Number One, and Ethan Peck as Science Officer Spock.
The series will follow the trio in the decade before Captain Kirk boarded the U.S.S. Enterprise, as they explore new worlds around the galaxy.
“Fans fell in love with Anson Mount, Rebecca Romijn, and Ethan Peck’s portrayals of these iconic characters when they were first introduced on Star Trek: Discovery last season,” said Julie McNamara, Executive Vice President and Head of Programming, CBS All Access. “This new series will be a perfect complement to the franchise, bringing a whole new perspective and series of adventures to Star Trek.”
Based on the video provided in the announcement tweet, it seems that the outpouring of fan support during and after Season 2 of Star Trek: Discovery helped bring this new series into existence.

No date for the series has been set, not doubt partially because of the unknown timetable for production crews, but hopefully this announcement means they’re at least working on scripts similar to how it seems the staff is currently working on Star Trek: Picard, and we won’t have to wait a lifetime to see Pike, Spock and others on the bridge of the Enterprise.
