Star Wars day brings in all the fun! My the Fourth be with you indeed!!
It has now been made official; Academy Award winner Taika Waititi is set to direct and co-write a new Star Wars feature film! Waititi will be joined on co-writing duties with Academy Award nominated writer Krysty Wilson-Cairns, who was nominated for 1917. Clearly Disney is taking this next film serious and tapping talent that is white hot coming off last year’s award season. There’s not been a timeframe set for when we’ll see this new film, but with his commitment to Thor: Love and Thunder, and everything continuing to get pushed back farther and farther do to COVID-19, its a safe bet we’re a handful of years before seeing this in theaters.
Along with the film news in the live-action front, it’s also been confirmed that Emmy nominated Leslye Headland is developing a new Star Wars based TV series for Disney+. Headland is set to write, executive produce, and will serve as showrunner for the show. There is some speculation that this project could be an Ahsoka Tano based project, but there hasn’t been a shred of detail revealed regarding this new show.
