WandaVision – Does The Strucker Watch Commercial Hint at What’s Coming?

How important is "time"

Everyone has been dismantling the first two episodes of WandaVision, looking for every possible and conceivable clue, to not only what’s going on in the show, but to the future of the MCU as a whole.

The commercials for both the Toast Mate 2000 from Stark Industries and The Strucker watch have been points of conversation.  Not only are they references to Wanda’s past, with Stark relating to the Maximoff twins seeking revenge against Tony at their introduction, and Baron von Strucker and Hydra using the Mind Stone to give Wanda and Pietre their powers, but could they give hints to the future?

Take The Strucker watch as seen below.

The watch is set for 2:42.  Typically watches are shown with the time of 10:10 on the watch face, so showing the watch with this particular time is no coincidence.

A quick search of Marvel Comics shows that Avengers #242 has a story that involves both Scarlett Witch and Vision.  It’s an issue where the Vision becomes fully functional again after being severely damaged in a previous issue.  When the Vision shows up, he also announces that he’s aware of an oncoming powerful being, who turns out to be The Beyonder, and this issue leads into the start of the crossover event Secret Wars.  Most people will look at this and run with it.

While another correlation, and I feel a stronger one, is issue #42 of The West Coast Avengers, which would have been the second Avengers related book on the shelf in 1985.

In The West Coast Avengers #42, the Avengers, which included Scarlet Witch (and Wonder Man) discover that the Vision is missing.  This is the first issue of the Vision Quest storyline, where the Vision is dismantled.

During the storyline, The Vision is rebuilt, but with a chalk-white complexion, and lacking his emotions that previously came from Simon William’s brain patterns.  This storyline also marks the beginning of the Scarlet Witch’s downfall.

That’s not even mentioning the fact that Immortus was behind the dismantling of Vision, and we know that Kang is coming to the MCU in Ant-Man 3.  Coincidently enough, the man behind reassembling Vision in the Vision Quest storyline?  A certain Dr Pym!

It’s always fun diving into the hints and easter eggs that Marvel sneaks into things, and there is zero doubt that they have big plans for Phase 4 and beyond of the MCU.  Rather these commercials give hints to what’s coming, to the storyline they’re telling in WandaVision, or if they’re just random things to drive us fans crazy, only time will tell.

What do you think of this theory regarding the Strucker watch?  What’s your favorite or wildest theory you having with what’s going on in WandaVision?
